Buttongrass Ball
Collected and new Tasmanian bush/folk dances dedicated to the natural and cultural heritage of Tasmania. Lively Tasmanian and other traditional music by "the Roundabouts". All dances taught by dance caller David "Oddsocks" Wanless. No dancing experience or partner required.
Dance for democracy in planning at the 27th annual Buttongrass Ball. All ages and identities welcome. Dress for a ball or a bushwalk. Proceeds of the ball will go to the Tasmanian National Parks Association, working to protect our natural heritage. Tread lightly on the land, even if you stomp on the dance floor.
Dance to protect places like Lake Malbena, the South Coast, the Walls of Jerusalem and kunanyi from the government’s proposed process of unaccountable assessment panels (DAPs). The community should decide the future of such special places.
What better way to connect to our Tasmanian musical heritage and celebrate our Tasmanian musical and natural heritage than by connecting with other people in lively dancing to great Tasmanian live music.
BYO water bottle and a plate of supper to share. Dancing is a great workout.
