Freemasonry is a world wide organisation and Marangan Lodge has been part of the history of Benalla since 1871. The lodge building was built in 1904 and the main temple constructed in 1932. An ornate art deco ceiling in the main centre is a highlight of the building.

Frances Hewett’s Hat Collection
A recently donated ‘hat collection’, mostly hand-made items by the “Bonnet Box” and worn by the first lady mayor of Hamilton, Frances Hewett, will be on display.

Exhibition – Treasurers
The Centre has on show 2 glass cabinets full of metal detectors and old bottle ‘finds’ from around Hamilton and the local area. Here you will find items not commonly used today.

After completion of the Pub Crawl walk, at 11.30 a.m. the Centre will launch their latest publication, ‘Hamilton History Photographs from the 1870’s Stories from the 1840’s to 1850s’.
